After this morning’s snow control on the Rettenbach glacier high above Sölden, FIS officials Markus Mayr (FIS Race Director Women’s Technical) and Janez Hladnik (FIS Race Director Men’s Technical) gave the green light for the AUDI FIS Ski World Cup for women and men on 28 and 29 October, “The situation we have found is excellent, and the organisers have done a tremendous job. There is still work to be done, but we will have a successful race weekend by working together” said Markus Mayer (FIS)
This means that nothing stands in the way of the 30th anniversary of the World Cup opening in Sölden. ÖSV Secretary General Christian Scherer looks forward to the races with joy and confidence. “We would like to congratulate the team around OC head Jakob Falkner on the one hand on their anniversary and at the same time express our gratitude, because year after year they manage to offer top conditions for the athletes from all over the world. The World Cup opener in Sölden not only has a sporting component, but it is the first strong signal of the winter. It has a high economic significance for the ski industry, winter tourism and thus for Austria.”
“Despite the prolonged and above-average temperatures, our team prepared the World Cup slope perfectly in time and provided slopes for public skiing. We look forward to the 30th anniversary and see our work confirmed,” adds Jakob Falkner, OC Head of Ski World Cup Sölden.
