Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte was named NLCS MVP following the Snakes’ seven-game series win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday.
Marte hit a blistering .387/.406/.581 during the series while ripping 12 hits, five extra-base hits, and three RBIs. His double in Game 7 extended his playoff hit streak to 16 games, setting a record for the longest such streak to start a postseason career. The run began during the 2017 playoffs.
The 30-year-old is the second Diamondbacks player to claim NLCS MVP honors, joining Craig Counsell in 2001. He’s the seventh infielder to win the award since it was first presented in 1977.
