George lands commitment from 5-star PF Asa Newell

Five-star power forward Asa Newell committed to Georgia, he announced Wednesday to On3’s Joe Tipton.

Newell picked the Bulldogs over the likes of Alabama, Gonzaga, and Texas.

The prized prospect is the second-highest ranked power forward in the 2024 class and the top recruit from the state of Florida, per ESPN.

Newell told Tipton that Georgia’s coaching staff played a large role in his decision to commit to the program.

The Florida native ranks third all-time among Bulldogs recruits, trailing only Anthony Edwards and Lou Williams, according to Tipton.
