The Chicago Bulls and DeMar DeRozan are having a tough time finding common ground in contract talks, FanDuel TV’s Shams Charania reports.
The two sides are apart on multiple fronts, including salary and term, Charania said, citing sources.
The Bulls would reportedly like to retain DeRozan, who is the final season of a three-year, $81.9-million contract, either through an extension or in free agency. However, the 34-year-old would like to see how the Bulls’ season develops, Charania notes.
Chicago’s 2023 campaign got off to a rocky start with a 124-104 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday. The result led to a players-only meeting in the locker room postgame.
A six-time All Star, DeRozan has averaged 26.2 points, five assists, and 4.9 rebounds during his time in Chicago. His best season as a scorer came during the 2021-22 campaign when he averaged 27.9 points per game with the Bulls.
