Alan Dudman had two seconds yesterday and returns for Friday’s Sportsbook boosted double…
“Reverting back to the bare 2m at a sharp track should suit him and off the same mark looks a bet at 7/2.”
Caddy to make the cut
Caddyhill has made the cut following my initial selection Royal Practitioner being declared a non runner this morning, and we have a bigger price at 6/1.
This is very much a horse on the up judged on his last three starts. He made the running at Haydock to win and seemed to relish the sharp Bangor test even more last time – pressing on with aggressive tactics to seal an 11L victory.
He has only been raised 3lb to 120 so there is plenty of mileage in that mark and he is well capable of holding his own in a better race.
Buddy looks special down in trip
Ben Pauling’s Special Buddy hasn’t won a race over fences yet but his last two starts suggest he can go close at Newton Abbot.
His personal best came at Fontwell this spring, on decent ground, where he finished second. That was over 2m2f and Pauling decided to run him over 2m4f last time at Warwick. That race had a bit more depth than today’s contest but he didn’t appear to see out the trip.
Reverting back to the bare 2m at a sharp track should suit him and off the same mark looks a bet at 7/2.
